As usual the Historic Class counts quite a percentage of the entries at the TAC Rally. Nothing else this year with an impressive 38 historic cars out of an 78 total participants, of which 7 Porsches 911. Quite a lot of the entries in the Historic class were, not to be surprised, Ford Escorts in different versions.
After the rally it was Stefan Stouf that gained most attention with his impressive 9th overall and class win in the Historics in his 300HP strong Porsche RS (RSR engine). Stouf started the race on rain tyres which gave him some advantages to his opponents, who had a different tyre-choice, that turned out to be not the best one.
In the modern class, former rally champion Patrick Snijers drove a Porsche 997 GT3. Once again it wasn’t his lucky day, and he had to abandon the race with some gearbox troubles. More bad luck for Jochen Claerhout, another competitor in a Porsche 997 GT3, who had a severe crash and had to be hospitalized. Tim Vanparijs, again in a Porsche 997GT3 finished in a nice 6th place overall.
Due to the rainy and windy weather conditions, the organisers of the TAC rally had to cope with a smaller number of visitors compared to the last few years. However those that made the effort to cope with the rain and wind definitely found it worthwile and are planning a visit next year again.
