After a year of mandatory absence, the 28th edition of the Spa Six Hours could take place the first weekend of October. Due to the pandemic, the organization had to impose stringent regulations for all entering the premises. Next to that, they had to cope with changed conditions for UK drivers to bring their cars to the mainland. That resulted in a start field with far fewer people from overseas, and a smaller start grid in most of the series.

However, the 2021 edition of the Spa Six Hours presented series including- pre-war cars, touring cars, Formula Junior, Grand Prix cars from the 1960s, Formula 1 cars from the 1970s and 1980s, sports prototypes and GTs from the 1950s, 1960s and the post-2000 period. The headliner and main attraction of the event is the 6 Hours endurance race. 86 cars made it to the start grid, 12 of them Ford GT40’s. The race starts at 4 PM and always brings great spectacle, as a grid of 86 cars rumbles over the tarmac.

Driving in both day and night is a certainty in the Spa Six Hours format, just as mandatory pilot change, and obviously refueling. Changing weather conditions are always possible in Spa, but overall the race was completely dry. Just as in previous editions, these were the cars to beat at the Spa Six Hours. in the first part of the race, the dutch father-son duo Hart fought a fierce battle with Farley / Van de Poele in another Ford GT40. Technical issues forced both of them out of the race. Despite that, the Ford GT40 showed its supremacy in the Spa Six Hours once again. All top 5 finishers were a Ford GT40. It was Oliver Bryant and James Cottingham that took the checkered flag.

Among the 13 Porsches on then entry-list, 12 of them were Porsche 911s. The other one was the Porsche 904 Carrera GTS. The highest-ranked Porsche 911, was the #53 of Perez / Coll. They finished 24th overall and won the GTS11 Class. A few spots lower, at 28, you can find the Porsche 904 Carrera GT of Blanpain / Jansens / De Latre Du Busqueau who finished 4th in its class.
