We all know Porsche has a very active motorsports scene. Not only the Porsche works teams compete in different series. Various private teams race Porsches too. That is the case in sprint races and endurance races, at race tracks all over the world at every continent. Formula E was a new comer in 2019. Gruppe C Motorsport Verlag published the 27th edition in the Porsche Sport series. For almost 3 decades now, the “Porsche Sport” series is the reference when you want to know more about a specific year in Porsche Motorsport. “Porsche Sport 2019” by Tim & Bjorn Upietz does not change that tradition.
Porsches are active in many different race series : Formula E, IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, European Le Mans Series, FIA WEC, Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, The Carrera Cup are just a few.
Each race series get the attention it deserves in its own chapter. It starts with an overview of all the races in that series during 2019. The race season is described briefly. Dozens of pictures of renowned photographers illustrate the text. And each chapter finishes with the final results and standings.
The book is printed on glossy high-quality paper, and comes with a robust hardcover. “Porsche Sport 2019” keeps your attention from the very first moment you open it. W consider the chapters about the ROFGO Gulf Collection and the Porsche Experience Center Hockenheim a bit redundant. And we’re not sure about the chapter on “The 50th anniversary of the Porsche 917“. We don’t like the advertisements in the book at all. But these flaws may not prevent you from buying it.
Just as the other books in the “Porsche Sport” series by Gruppe C Motorsport Verlag, “Porsche Sport 2019” is a book you won’t regret to have in your library. The results and statistics in “Porsche Sport 2019” make it a unique reference book. A book you might grab to read and feel the excitement of a race. A work you take out of your library to do some research. A coffee table book that you go through in your seat just to take a quick look at the pictures.
