In our preview of the Amelia Island auctions, we completely forgot to mention the Porsches that came up for sale at the Broad Arrow Auction. We told you previously about the Charity auction of the Ultimate Artist’s Edition of Brumos: an American Racing Icon at that same auction house. The final bid price for the book was $6,000 including premium. A spectacularly high price for a book, and on the other hand everybody hoped for a more fierce bidders’ battle to achieve a result as high as possible for charity.
The economic situation worldwide is only just recovering from the pandemic, and now has to cope with the war in Ukraine. We have the opinion that this reflects in the results achieved by the different auction houses. Even though many of the bidders for some of the most exclusive cars do not let their sleep for a 6 or 7-figure car, we are convinced these guys are playing more on safety too. The extreme prices some Porsches raised at auctions several years ago are gone by. Some cars didn’t even sell at the auction, and the highest bid wasn’t that spectacular. On the other hand, most of the cars sold, and we did not see the cars with our own eyes. And that may be another reason that cars did not find a new home too.
