When Sean Cridland launched the epic trilogy Brumos: an American Racing Icon a few years ago, 3 different editions were announced. You first had the regular trilogy and the limited and numbered Collector’s Edition. Picking up where the Brumos Edition left off, The Numbered Collector’s Edition (011–359) includes a fourth volume of special features, including comprehensive lists and photos of Brumos drivers, crew members, and cars; and several pages of photos not included in the Brumos Edition, and autographed by 12 personalities involved with a close connection to Brumos Racing or the book. The 3rd announced edition was the Ultimate Artist’s Edition of Brumos: an American Racing Icon.

In honor of Brumos Racing’s 50th-anniversary celebration of their overall wins at the 1973 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, The Ultimate Artist’s Edition of Brumos: An American Racing Icon is making its public debut. While the contents of each book set are the same four-volume set as the numbered Collector’s Edition – containing 1600 pages of Brumos history, illustrated by over 2900 images – the slipcases for each copy of the Ultimate Artist’s Edition is the personal artistic expression of some of America’s finest modern and automotive artists. The books are each numbered in the series of the Collector’s Edition books, beginning with 001 and continuing through 010, plus two Author’s Proof editions. Each one is signed and dated by the artist.

The first Ultimate Artist’s Edition of Brumos: an American Racing Icon, designed and autographed by Frank Stella carrying number 001 heads for auction at the Broad Arrow Group’s Amelia Island taking place March 3. If you’re not aware of Mr. Stella’s work, he designed the 1976 BMW Le Mans art car and his standing in the Modern Art movement is on a level with Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, etc. For the serious collector of automotive and fine art, this would be a one-of-a-kind piece for a grand collection. The author Sean Cridland shows his great heart, and explained that all proceeds will go to charity. Fingers crossed for a mind-blowing result for this unique piece of art.
