Results of the auctions in Paris
The first major classic car show with a global exposure is undoubtedly the Paris Retromobile. You’ll read more on that in the coming days. For many collectors however, the Retromobile show is one thing, but their main focus goes to the auctions in Paris during the show. Nothing else was the case this year. A few weeks ago you could read our preview of what the auction houses had to sell. And this is what happened at the Paris auctions with all the results.
RM Sotheby’s had the Porsche that would bring the most money. The Porsche 904 Carrera GTS surpassed the pre-sale estimate. The hammer fell down at €1,917,500. That would be the only Porsche at RM Sotheby’s to bring more as expected. The 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport and the 2005 Porsche Gemballa Mirage GT remained unsold. Too bad the 1952 Porsche 356 Gläser Cabriolet was withdrawn. Not too many of these Gläser Cabriolets cross the block and it would have been great to see what it would bring in an auction.
Eye catcher among the Porsches at the Artcurial Auction was the Porsche 906 Carrera 6. This full blood racer sold for €1,688,000. That’s right in the middle of the estimation. The 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS Lightweight was withdrawn. However, we don’t think it would have never catched the estimation of 800 000 € – 1 000 000 €.
At the Bonhams auction, a ‘standard’ version of the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS remained unsold with a high bid of €500,000. Same story for the 2 other RS that came up for sale at Bonhams. The 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera RS had a highest bid of only €120,000, the 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera RS remained Unsold with a highest bid of €200,000.
In a few week we can see where the prices go in the Amelia Island Auctions.
All prices are buyers premium included.
