In memory of Ben Pon, who died on September 30th, Pon Porsche Import pays homage to the most famous Dutch Porsche ambassador in the form of a special 911. The 911 Carrera 4S ‘Ben Pon jr.’ will be built in a limited edition of 20 pieces. The study model of the car was unveiled on September 30th at Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar in the presence of Dr. Wolfgang Porsche and Detlev von Platen, responsible for sales and marketing within the Board of Porsche AG.
The special Porsche 911 was initially developed by Pon Porsche Import in collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Dutch Porsche importer. After the death of Ben Pon, in consultation with Porsche AG, it was decided to name the car after him and put it into production in a limited edition. The 911 Carrera 4S ‘Ben Pon jr.’ has the same color scheme as the first Porsche 356 that was delivered in the Netherlands in 1949. This makes it not only a tribute to Ben Pon, but also a lasting, exclusive reminder of the signing of the contract for “the exclusive representation of Porsche Automobiles for Holland” between Pon and Porsche AG in 1949 and the start of the very first Porsche importer in the world.
Specifications
The unique Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is instantly recognizable by the exclusive exterior color Fischsilbergrau. This is the same paint color as that of the Porsche 356 Knickscheibe with chassis number 5070, which Pon Porsche Import registered in 1949 as the very first car in the Netherlands. The special version is also distinguished by the SportDesign front bumper, SportDesign sideskirts and aluminum trim around the side windows.
On the inside, the model is characterized by an exclusive leather interior in graphite blue with Madrascaro center stripes and stitching in GT silver. These colors are also found on the back of the heatable Adaptive Sports Chair Plus and in the piping of the floor mats. The interior of the study model features a ‘Ben Pon jr.’ logo on the dashboard and ’70 Pon Porsche Import’ logos in the headrests, on the center armrest and on the illuminated entrance strips in dark aluminum. The final composition of the interior will be determined by Pon Porsche Import in collaboration with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.
A cover in Fischsilbergrau with a piping in graphite blue and a ’70 Pon Porsche Import’ logo are also part of the standard equipment. So are the leather binder and the matching key case with the ’70’ logo in matching colors. Furthermore, the special 911 comes standard with a large number of other extras, such as rear-axle steering, LED-matrix headlights with PDLS Plus, an electrically operated sliding roof, and a sports exhaust. The power comes from the well-known 3.0-liter 6-cylinder bi-turbo boxer engine with 450 hp/530 Nm.
