The Sound of the Porsche 959 Paris Dakar
Jacky Ickx was a very versatile racers. From open wheel cars to endurance racing and rallying, Jacky Ickx was succesful in all of these races. For Porsche, Jacky Ickx drove the Paris Dakar rally in a Porsche 959 Paris Dakar, a car directly derived from the Porsche 959 super sports car. In 1986, french Rene Metge and Dominique Lemoyne win the 14.000 km rallye ahead of Jacky Ickx and Claude Brasseur in a second-factory Porsche 959. Another Porsche 959 finished 6th overall, even though that car served as a servive car for the 2 other Porsches in the field. A story completely confirmed by former race chef Peter Falk who accompanied Jacky Ickx. The Porsche 959 was driven on stage by Vanina Ickx, daughter of Jacky Ickx.
The Sound of the Porsche 962C at the Porsche Sound Nacht 2018
We’ve probably never seen someone more enthusiast on stage as Hans-Joachim Stuck. He is happy as a child when he climbs out of the Rothmans Porsche 962 after the very short lap in the Porsche Arena. 5 times Le Mans Winner Derek Bell is waiting for him on stage. Both agree how fantastic the car was, and what fabulous times they had in their race period with the Porsche 962. And Derek Bell again, learns the audience the importance of Norbert Singer, the race engineer for Porsche at the time.
